Short Term Health Insurance – How Does it Work? Find Out Here

AD1

Short term health insurance policies are often very similar to an indemnity policy. This means you are there before clear to go to any doctor or medical center of your choice. You must, however, pay the expenses up front from your own pocket and then be reimbursed by the insurer. Sometimes the insurer will reimburse all costs. Other times they will return a proportion only. It depends very much on the terms of the plan itself and also on your deductible. Before obtaining a short team health insurance quote, it is a good idea to take the following into account: –

– With the single exception of emergency treatment, all medical treatment and care must be pre-authorized in order to qualify for reimbursement.

– Short term health policies exclude pre-existing conditions from the last 3 years. This is particularly important to note if you have one, before looking for a short term health insurance quote.

– You can usually obtain a short term health insurance quote for a policy about anything from 30 days to 180 days. Some can be renewed up to 3 years but some companies refuse to permit renewal if you have claimed.

So if you are looking for a health policy that will not have you tied in for the long term, obtaining a short term health insurance quote is a good start. Just remember though that these plans really are tailor for those who, for whatever reason, will only need them for a maximum six months. Perhaps you will only be in the USA for that time, although you are going to be working for a company in the near future that provides group health insurance … whatever you reasoning, if you need a policy for no more than six months, then this could be the perfect plan for you.
